Sutton Bank Annual Maintenance

SUTTON BANK – A170 – ANNUAL MAINTENANCE

SUNDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER TO SUNDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2021

This letter is to advise you that North Yorkshire County Council will be carrying out essential annual maintenance works on Sutton Bank, which will result in a full road closure from the morning of Sunday 12th September 2021 until end of day Sunday 19th September 2021 (8-day closure), weather permitting.

Please be aware that there is a further scheduled closure of Sutton Bank from 20th September to 26th September for ongoing utility works. Please note that this is not part of the NYCC closure and will be communicated separately by the utility provider.

Works include the annual inspection and maintenance of the rock face which will ensure that this strategic route remains in a structurally sound condition in the long term.

During the closure of Sutton Bank, access to premises on the bank will be maintained whenever possible, however due to the nature of the works, there may be times when access will be restricted.

Diversion routes will be signed appropriately along and every effort will be made to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible and that any disruption is kept to a minimum.

Our contractors will assist you where possible during the working periods and on-site personnel will be tasked with managing vehicle access. We request your assistance in the following ways: –

Please note that there is a change to the official diversion route this year.  Please familiarise yourself with the new official diversion route and allow extra time for your journeys;

Please contact the Customer Resolution Centre on 01609 780780 to identify any special access needs you may have during the works period;

Co-operate and comply with any instructions issued by the traffic management operatives and take extra care whilst within the works area;

In order to ensure the works are completed as safely and quickly as possible it would be appreciated if residents could keep journeys to a minimum.
