Section 106 Funding Proposals

The Section 106 contribution provided by David Wilson Homes for the housing development on Station Road has now been released and is currently being held by Ryedale District Council. This money can be used ‘for enhancing and providing youth and adult leisure facilities for the enhancement of sport and leisure facilities within the villages of Ampleforth and Gilling East only’.

Ampleforth Parish Council are now inviting individuals or groups within Ampleforth and Gilling East to put forward suitable proposals.

As you will appreciate the funding is of interest to many parties within the village. Therefore, we would ask that when submitting proposals you provide your top 3 priorities/wishlist. Each of these 3 priorities must include full, separate costings, rather than just an overall costing.

For each proposal you submit you must outline the purpose, benefits, beneficiaries, timescale and costings of each project.

Please submit proposals to the Clerk, either by post – 8 Stratford Way, Huntington, York. YO32 9YW or email – no later than the 1st April 2017. Please note, submissions received after this date will not be considered. For any queries please contact the Clerk, Louise Pink on (01904) 272079.

Sutton Bank A170 Maintenance Road Closure

Sutton Bank – A170 – Annual Maintenance

North Yorkshire County Council have advised us that they intend to carry the annual essential maintenance works on Sutton Bank. This work will ensure that this strategic route remains in a structurally sound condition in the long term.

The works this year includes the annual inspection and maintenance of the rock face. These works will result in Sutton Bank being closed from Monday 5 September 2016 for one week, weather permitting.

During the closure of Sutton Bank, access to premises on the bank will be maintained whenever possible, however due to the nature of the works there may be times that access will be restricted.  Where access is permitted through the closure, your co-operation in taking extra care whilst within the works during this period will be appreciated.

Diversion routes will be signed appropriately along the caravan route and every effort will be made to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible and that any disruption is kept to a minimum.

If anyone has any queries please contact the NYCC Customer Resolution Centre on 01609 780780.

Cooperate and comply with any instructions issued by the traffic management operatives and take extra care whilst within the works area.

For further information including diversion information and to sign up for alerts please go to;

NYCC would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any disruption that these works may cause and would again request your cooperation to help ensure an efficiently and safely executed project.

95 Alive are currently offering a free 1 hour refresher drive for drivers over 50 with an approved driving instructor.

If you have a licence to drive, and are fit to drive we want you to keep driving.  95 Alive advise that you try not to become over dependent on your partner’s driving because as traffic conditions change it can be very hard to take up driving again after several years off.  It is better to stay in practice on the roads you frequently use.

Refreshing your skills really can make all the difference to your confidence, building on your experience with driving tips, techniques and advice.

To book a free 1 hour refresher or for further information please email: or Tel: 01609 798120 or visit the website
